Mama's Family Café in Quinlan will be hosting a potluck dinner and auction August 21. The dinner starts at 4 p.m., with the auction starting at 5 p.m. The event will benefit the "Hearts for Amanda" fundraiser. The café invites people to bring their own side dishes and desserts. The event will also feature live music and the restaurant recommends that people bring their own lawn chairs.     "Hearts for Amanda" is a fundraiser dedicated to Amanda Stringer, a Quinlan resident who is battling Stage IV endometrial cancer. Stringer's mother, Tammy White, says that Stringer does not have much time left. "The doctor' s prognosis is that she has six months to one year left," White said.       The Hunt County Health Department  will be hosting a vaccine clinic Quinlan Community Library Wednesday, August 4 from 3 to 6 p.m. The event is for kids and teenagers with Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Private Insurance for those going into the 7th grade or higher. Adult vaccinations are also available for no-insurance and private insurance. Maria Alegria-Servin, a HCHD nurse, has encouraged others to attend the event. "This event is for all needing vaccines for school or just want to be updated on them," Alegria-Servin said.      People wishing to get vaccinated will need to present their health insurance card, as well as cash or check. Credit and debit cards will not be accepted.
